We're making preparations tonight to head out Thursday for a road trip to Texas. Making the trip are Russ (PBR) and Billie Jordan, Ron (Wishbone) and Bibi Freer, Claude and Elaine Graves-- all from good old Polk County NC, and Casey and Lisa Sigler from Lexington SC. The Jordans, Freers, and Siglers have been making plans to go, all the while telling the Graves they should join us. The Graves finally caved in today and decided to go--they will be sleeping in the Honeymoon Suite in the back of the Freers horse trailer. The Jordans and Freers have made a couple of trips west together before, the most recent in 2010, which you can read about in older posts if interested. This will be our first long trip together without little Fatty Freer, who has moved to Asheville to get educated at UNCA. We will miss you Fatty! Russ and Billie were neighbors and played music with Lisa back in the Clemson/Six Mile days. We reconnected with Lisa, Casey, and their girls a couple of years ago, and have been camping together at Merlefest the last 2 years. The Siglers got their youngest shipped off to Clemson this fall, and bought themselves an Aliner:

Claude and Elaine are trying to decide what kind of camper to get, and are considering Aliners too. They figured a road trip with these different campers will help them decide what they want. We're really happy they decided to join us. Elaine is a retired school teacher and Claude plays with mud. We leave Thursday with plans to land in Austin, Texas Saturday for a big night on the town. Later we will be going to Fredericksburg and Goliad, where Wishbone's family roots are, and will be visiting with some of his kinfolks. Stay tuned!!! PBR
